V&A East
The V&A East project has created two interconnected sites in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – a new collection and research centre at Here East and a brand new museum at Stratford Waterfront.
Designed by New York-based architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro (and supported by Austin-Smith:Lord), the new multi-million pound V&A collection and research centre now houses 250,000 objects and an additional 917 archives, allowing treasures to be brought out of storage and put on public display for the first time in generations.
Visitors can go behind the scenes and watch the museum’s curators at work as they catalogue and research new items. The centre also includes a central hall for exhibitions, performances and film screenings as well as pop-up displays.
